Still Tryin'

This post title is in reference to the fact that after 10 months on the market and 41 showings, we still have not been able to sell our house.  I know most of you have heard this sob story from me before and are probably thinking Oh great, here she goes again!  But let me just say that although I know this is not a serious trial in my life, it is really very trying.  It's really hard to watch everybody else around you sell their house in a matter of weeks.  And at this point it's just embarrassing.  Every time I get the call to prepare for another showing I have to swallow down the glint of hope that maybe this will be the one, simply because it never is.  So the plan is to trudge through the summer and if it doesn't sell by then, we will take it off the market, refinance, and be happy here for a few more years.

The past couple of months have been hectic as usual.  Drew got a promotion at work and I thought it would be a great time to quit my second transcription job, which I did at the end of the year.  Unfortunately, my main job slowed down a lot and after only two weeks of being down to one transcription job, I found myself another.  I am now working on an as-needed basis for an orthopedic clinic in Ogden.  It was quite a task to get things up and running from home with all the technical hoops I had to jump through, but now that I am working I really like it.  I do feel like I sit in front of this computer all day because, well,...I do.  I take my break in the morning to shower and get ready and take Savannah to preschool, a break for lunch, work in a few house chores, and then type most of the rest of the day.

Drew has been super busy at work and is not entirely sure that going back to management was the best choice, but he is really good at what he does and I am very proud of all the hard work he puts into providing for our family.  We love that man!  The girls and I got to go visit him a few weeks ago and check out his new office.  He's got a view of the streets of downtown Salt Lake and it is pretty cool.

The snow this winter has been insane!  I can tell you that I have had my fill of shoveling for the year.  The girls have loved playing in all the white stuff, making sledding hills, thrones, and caves.  Brooke got in on the action this year too, although she didn't really want to touch the snow at all.

I threw a shower for our friend Brittnie who lives in our ward.  I tried to look for inspiration on Pinterest but just found myself overwhelmed by everyone else's perfection.  I asked another friend in the ward to help with the food and she did an amazing job.  So glad to have her help!

And of course there have been cakes:
A Vintage "Downton Abbey" inspired cake for my mom

Unicorn & Fairy

Mario, Zelda & Rubik's cube

Angry Birds cake & pops

We also did a little room swapping in the last week.  Carly and Abbie are now back to sharing a room so that they could have a desk and the old computer to do homework on.  Now Brooke and Savannah have their own rooms.

Sweet sisters trying out the new bean bag :)

Here's a little recap of the haps for me.

What I've been watching:  Breaking Bad and Sherlock
What I've been reading:  City of Glass
What I've been listening to:  Can't seem to get enough Foo Fighters lately, particularly the song Wheels, and also digging Imagine Dragons
What I've been eating: Tried a recipe for artichoke fettuccine and I was in heaven.  So good!
